Mixed Media Monday - the colours of Autumn

In our part of the UK the period where we get the reds and golds of leaves is very short, in fact a flurry of snow and freezing temperatures last week have pretty well ripped any leaves from the trees now. This year we seemed to go from Summer to Winter via a one week of Autumn. The clocks have gone back by an hour as well so it gets dark now around 4.30 pm and dusk is a sort of bruised blue, hence my colours of Autumn for this petal pot . The colouring is using Distress inks and the tree stamps are by Elusive Images. The leaves dangling from the top are shrink plastic.

What a lovely petal pot Moira - the colours combined so beautifully! And, I love the delicate SP leaves.

This is a stunning piece, Moira. It just evokes that mix of feelings that we have in Autumn...the warmth we feel when the leaves are coloured and the desolate feel once they have fallen and the days are grey.

Your blog name says it all! Thank you and all your friends for the positive energy you sent our way. I am so thankful and hopeful for the future. My husband did exactly what yours did last night, and I awoke about 12am, just in time to hear Obama's speech. I just wept with joy.

Love and hugs,
Alberta

Your pot is gorgeous, Moira. I'm sorry you missed out on Autumn. It is the best time of year here in Canberra, Australia - although we are in Spring here at the moment. Diane
